Believe God is Real

The first step to finding your “special assignment” is to believe and accept God is real. This means believing God knows you personally and has a good plan for your life.

Steps & Roadblocks

The following are steps that help you discover God is real:

  • Prayer is a key to talking and listening to God. Ask God to help you develop your relationship with Him.
  • Explore the Bible, it teaches us the good news of God’s love for us.
  • Associate with other Bible believers to help encourage you and learn from their experience with God.

Common roadblocks to believing God is real are listed below. Do you struggle with one or more of these roadblocks?

  • Disappointed of the bad things that happen in this world and in life.
  • I have not seen or heard from God
  • I have heard a lot of different stories about God that does not make sense.

These examples do not cover every reason why people don’t believe in God. Maybe you have a different reason. Whatever your struggle, identify what keeps you from believing God is real and having a personal relationship with him.

The next step in finding your special assignment is to choose to trust God. Once you choose to believe God’s real you will need to believe God loves you and desires what is best for you!

The following steps can help you trust God:

  • Believe God is who He says he is and HE knows what’s best for you.
  • Choose to learn God’s word and obey
  • Submit the outcome to God’s will and remember that God loves you and His plan is best for you and others.
  • Ask God for directions
  • God does not reveal His plan all at once, but will lead you in His will for you.
  • As you take small steps to obey Him, His plans for your life will become clearer as you follow leading.

If you have a hard time trusting God, identify the roadblocks to trusting him:

  • Common roadblocks to trusting God, are typically related to health, illness or suffering.
  • God is loving, and He rewards following his instructions in this life and in the eternal to come.
  • Believing in cultural morals which may stress trusting only yourself and finding self-worth in social stations and material items
  • Experiencing childhood or adult abuse is where trusting people is hard to do, which in turn makes it hard to trust God.

Talk and Listen to God

Once you believe God is real and you trust God, the next step on your special assignment is to TALK and LISTEN to God. Talking to God means; sharing with Him anything that’s on your mind. This includes sharing the most innermost thoughts and feelings. This is an exciting step because you can hear from God and discover your purpose in life.

Steps & Roadblocks

The following are steps you can take to help you talk and listen to God:

  • Talk to God and ask him to help you listen to his voice. Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
  • Make time each day to focus on listening to God. This includes blocking out life’s distractions.
  • Believe that God wants to talk to you.

Roadblocks to talking and listening to God:

  • Not believing God values you and will listen to you
  • Getting caught up or distracted by the demands of everyday living and not making it a priority to listen and talk to God.
  • Listen to yourself, others or culture instead of God.

Final Steps

Congratulations on making it through the above Pathway! We trust that during your hard time, you have experienced God in a new way and can echo Job’s words found in the Bible, “I had heard about you before, but now I have seen you” (Job 42:5 TLB).

Because of this encounter, you can now find what we call your special assignment, one which is illustrated in this verse, “He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us”  (2 Corinthians 1:4 MSG).

Enjoy your new special assignment from God. He is right there by your side, whispering in your ear that your “best days” are yet to come.

There are many ways to act on your special assignment. These can include:

– Share with others personally and/or on the website so others can be comforted by your challenge.

– Help someone who is going through a challenge in life. This can include any act of kindness.
